Why Evenes?
Taking advantage of the varying circumference of the Earth is a real game changer! At the Polar Circle, the circumference measures only 15,985 km, compared to 40,075 km at the equator. Positioned 400 km north of the Polar Circle, Harstad/Narvik Airport provides more time-efficient, and cost-effective air routes to numerous global destinations, while also significantly reducing carbon emissions.
Furthermore, as the primary logistics hub in Northern Norway, Harstad/Narvik Airport supports fish farmers from Bodø all the way to Hammerfest. This facilitates access to approximately 700,000 tons of fresh salmon annually.
Transporting seafood from fish farms in Arctic and northern Norway to airports in Helsinki or Oslo takes 24 to 36 hours, affecting competitiveness in a demanding global market. By utilizing our airport, strategically located closer to the fish farms, we streamline this logistics process, ensuring the freshness and marketability of premium Norwegian seafood.

New terminal
Increased capasity for exportes from up North Norway
With new facilities, PCN AS will increase capacity for air freight service, from todays 4 planes a week to 10- 15 planes, depening on size and volume. 3-350 tons a week is a goal within 2025 – very much depening on how the air freight business develops.
The location just outside of Evenes Airport gives us better possibilities to offer services beyond solely air cargo. European Road 10 from Lofoten/Vesterålen to Sweden/Europe gives an excellent access from both the main roads as well as to the airport. We will because of this take this opportunity to expand our services within logistics and storage. Our customers will be offered a complete product for delivering seafood targeted for both overseas and European markets. We will be the best choice for all freight forwarders, exporters, transporters, and other parties within the seafood segment.
The storage capacity will be around 750 metric tonnes of seafood at any given time. This equates to 450 euro pallets and approx 30 ready-built air cargo pallets.
The production capacity is around 50 air cargo pallets per 8 hours, start up volume. The unloading and loading capacity will be approximately 8 full semi-trailers per hour. The warehouse will have 4 loading docks to handle euro pallets and up to 2 additional bays for air cargo pallets.
Distribution to Europe
The European Union has given priority to the most important transport corridors (TEN-T) in EU.
Narvik as a part of the CORE-network (the main network for European transport) is qualified to get priority for developing combination air, sea, rail and road.
Since 1996 has worked on building better bordercrossing infrastructurre solutions in Europe. Goal is to acchive and establish an intermodal european network, integrating transport on land, sea and air,
PCN AS will activly seek to take advantage on this system using Evenes and Narvik both for incoming and outgoing cargo.
Rail Narvik – Malmø approx 30 hours
Rail Narvik – Oslo approx 27 hours, and another 24 hours to reach Padborg (Reloading, waiting, driving etc)
Sammenlignet med dagens løsning via Oslo, vil et direktetog Narvik – Malmø(Padborg gi en tidsgevinst på ca. 30 timer

Services – Ramp handling
Serving all types of Full Freighter Aircraft
Marshalling:
As the aircraft approaches the stand, the vehicle relinquishes aircraft guidance to either electronic Stand Entry Guidance Systems or ground personnel to direct the aircraft to its final parked position. In many cases, wing walkers will work in conjunction with the marshaller or guidance system by controlling ramp traffic and to helping to mitigate any wing tip clearance hazard. On departure, a marshaller will assist in engine start, confirming that the area around the engine is clear of hazards and watching for indications of an engine fire. Should a fire occur, the marshaller will advise the crew by interphone or by using Emergency Hand Signals. Wing walkers will also be provided when the aircraft is to be pushed off stand
Chocking and Connection/Disconnection of Ground Services:
Once the aircraft is on-stand, wheel chocks will be inserted and external services such as passenger bridge(s) or boarding stairs, ground electrical service and ground air conditioning units will be positioned or connected as required. As the departure time approaches, these items will be disconnected and removed as directed by the flight crew
Air Cargo Handling:
Air Cargo on the inbound aircraft will be off-loaded using whatever specialised equipment necessary (such as Highloaders, Maindeckloaders, belts, and forktrucks) the Air Cargo will be loaded on the aircraft. Care must be taken to ensure that Loading of Aircraft with Cargo is accomplished in accordance with the load planner’s loading instructions and that Dangerous Goods are correctly handled
Aircraft Towing.
Movement of an aircraft to or from a maintenance facility, a remote parking stand or from one gate to another will be accomplished on an “as required” basis
Refuelling:
Aircraft will be refuelled to the requirements of the outbound flight as specified by the Pilot in Command or, in his absence, by the dispatcher. Specific protocols are in place if refueling is to be accomplished with passengers remaining on board
Catering:
Catering for the outbound flight boarded upon request by the airline. Galley and bar stock will be replenished
Provision of Documents:
Prior to departure, the flight crew will be provided with the appropriate documentation inclusive of a fuel uplift receipt, the completed Aircraft Load and Trim form or, if the crew completes their own Load and Trim, the certified Loading Instruction Form (LIF), Air Cargo manifests and the appropriate notifications for any dangerous goods.
High Pressure Air:
In some circumstances, such as in the case of an unserviceable Auxiliary Power Unit (APU), a high pressure air cart may be required to start at least one of the aircraft engines.
Pushback.
Where required, ground equipment will be utilized to move the aircraft off stand at departure
De-icing.
When required, either or both Aircraft Ground De/Anti-Icing and Engine Core and Fan De/Anti-icing will be carried out. Engine core de-icing is most often accomplished at the parking position whereas aircraft de-icing may be done either in situ or at a remote facility.
